Losing Weight:

Why is it important to do resistance training when dieting for weight loss?

If you lose weight with no resistance type of exercise, statistically, you lose about 30% muscle 70% fat per pounds lost. Muscle burns calories (metabolic rate) is functional for moving around and doing things, is a huge part of the blood sugar/insulin system and your heart is a muscle, too, so losing muscle is a very bad strategy! Another big plus is that resistance training causes a release of testosterone that helps keep skin tight as you shed pounds. And finally, resistance training for a number of important reasons is healthier than any other exercise (see “Get Moving”).

How's that for 4 good reasons!
